Financial Holds
Payment of tuition and fees is expected by the University about six weeks after the start of the semester. Unpaid amounts remaining on a student's account after the due date will result in a financial hold on the student's account which will make registration for the next term impossible. Students who are unable to resolve holds during any registration period should consult with the Student Services Coordinator for assistance.
Other Holds
Holds may be placed on a student's account preventing registration for other reasons, including lack of proper immunizations, or failure to attend a debt management meeting at the Department of Financial Aid. Graduating seniors records may be held until students have an 'exit interview' at the Department of Financial Aid.
The UIC Web for Student system has information regarding holds on a student's account.
Refund Policy
A student who officially withdraws from all classes will receive a pro-rata refund of tuition and some fees ranging from 100% of assessed tuition and refundable fees if the student withdraws before the first day of class to 40% if the student withdraws during the 10th week of class. No refunds are granted after the 10th week of class. Go to http://www.uic.edu/depts/oar/rr/refund.shtml.
