chicago skylineThe UIC Department of Occupational Therapy was founded more than 60 years ago, making it one of the oldest and most respected programs in the country. Throughout its history, the department has been a leader in the profession:

  • Ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the top graduate program in occupational therapy at a public university; ranked fourth among all universities nationwide
  • Only department in Illinois offering post-professional MS, OTD and PhD programs for occupational therapists
  • Close relationship with the University of Illinois Medical Center offers students opportunities to learn from clinician instructors in a real-world clinical environment
  • Provides research assistantships offering close mentoring experience and tuition assistance to qualified students
  • One of two charter centers of research in occupational therapy funded nationwide by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF)
