BS, Nutrition Science Track

Required Credit Hours: 60 hours for Nutrition Science Track; 120 hours total

The Nutrition Science Track focuses on intensive study in biological and physical sciences as a basis for understanding the science of nutrition and the relationships between nutrients and human health. This program requires 19 fewer credits and is two semesters shorter than the Coordinated Program because it does not include a supervised practice component. Students may be either full-time or part-time in this program. This is an accredited "Didactic Program in Dietetics," enabling graduates to apply for a dietetic internship at a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) accredited site. A graduate of this track who completes an accredited internship is eligible to take the registration examination to become a registered dietitian. The program can be tailored for students who expect to pursue advanced degrees in nutritional sciences or professional degrees in medicine, dentistry or public health.

The Nutrition Science Program, a Didactic Program in Dietetics, is currently developmentally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education(CADE) of the American Dietetic Association.
