PhD in Kinesiology, Nutrition and Rehabilitation
Drawing upon and integrating subject matter from a variety of disciplines, this Ph.D. program teaches research skills necessary to acquire new knowledge, as well as the theoretical foundations, research methodologies, and scientific writing and teaching/presentation skills required to transmit this knowledge through publication and teaching.
The Ph.D. program is comprised of three inter-related disciplinary fields:
- Motor Control and Musculoskeletal Biomechanics
Designed to educate students to have a successful career studying and teaching principles of human movement as it applies to both health and disease.
Preparatory subjects: kinesiology, psychology, engineering, biology, physical therapy, occupational therapy or the physical sciences
- Integrative Pathophysiology, Nutrition and Health Promotion
Prepares students for successful careers in the inter-related fields of nutrition, metabolism, obesity, exercise and inflammation.
Preparatory subjects: nutrition, kinesiology, psychology, biology or chemistry
- Rehabilitation Sciences
Prepares researchers, educators and scientist-practitioners to conduct applied and/or translational research in a wide range of rehabilitation-oriented settings.
Preparatory subjects: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and communication, education, public health, kinesiology, health and rehabilitation psychology, engineering, biology or the physical sciences
