Rimmer leads alliance to improve fitness ops for disabled Professor Jim Rimmer will co-chair the newly formed Inclusive Fitness Coalition, founded to address barriers that can prevent millions of Americans with physical and cognitive disabilities from leading active, healthy lives. The barriers, say coalition members, include difficulty getting to and into facilities, finding accessible equipment, and locating affordable, professional trainers who understand their conditions. At a press conference in Washington, D.C., January 24, the coalition issued a call to action and proposed solutions that can highlight the problems and create a strong commitment to change from all sectors of society. Formed by the National Center on Physical Activity and Disability along with the American College of Sports Medicine, the coalition comprises researchers, advocates, fitness industry representatives, elected and appointed officials, and others.
