Joint Degree: MS in Nursing Administration/MS in Health Informatics

Degree Requirements | Career Paths | How to Apply

Health informatics is at the heart of modern nursing practice. All nurses make use of information every minute of every work day. As the importance of informatics is recognized throughout health care, it is increasingly important that nurses have the opportunity to receive appropriate education in this growing specialty, helping them to assume emerging leadership positions.

What We Offer
With an emphasis on leadership, critical thinking, practice management, and health care technology, UIC's College of Nursing and the Department of Biomedical and Health Information Sciences in the College of Applied Health Sciences offer a joint-degree program for students interested in taking their nursing careers to the next level. Students graduate with both a Master of Science in Nursing Administration and a Master of Science in Health Informatics.

This program integrates nursing science, information science, and knowledge of computers to identify, collect, process and manage data and information to support nursing practice, administration, education and research. The curriculum includes Nursing Systems Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, Healthcare Informatics Theory and Application, and Fiscal Management.
