Alumna brings HIM to Chicago Public Schools

HIM alumna Gerri Smothers, founder of the Jordan Evans Institute, a workforce training school, received a grant to offer “Principles of HIM” as part of the health sciences curriculum at Percy Julian High School in Chicago’s Washington Heights neighborhood.

The first session was offered in January. AHS Assistant Professor Karen Patena wrote a letter of support for the grant.

If successful, the course will likely be extended to other Chicago public schools with health sciences curricula.
