Welcome from Alumni Board Chair, Art Slowinski MVSC '94
Since the last issue of @AHS launched in early June we have received many updates from our alumni. Thank you for sending your news, we really enjoy reading about your life events! On June 11, the college held its first (in many years) alumni event at the Body Worlds exhibit in the Museum of Science and Industry for all of our AHS alumni association members. The event was a huge success and would not have been possible without the financial support that membership in the University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA) provides every time one of our alumni joins the UIAA. I am looking forward to more networking and social events in the future. If you have a suggestion for future alumni programming please email ahsalum@uic.edu with your idea. Finally, returning AHS students will be back on campus August 22, but our new students will be back on campus on August 17 for orientation and a BBQ style lunch sponsored by Dean Tate and the college. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your summer and please keep us updated with your news.

Nominate a Classmate for an Alumni Award
Know of any outstanding UIC AHS alumni? Have they contributed to the growth and success of the city of Chicago? How about alumni who have achieved top success in their field or those who selflessly devote time and energy to humanitarian efforts? If so, then nominate them for one of the many campus alumni awards! Nominations due Sept. 30. If you think you know of an AHS alum, but need help with the nomination email ahsalum@uic.edu and we can assist. Award descriptions and nomination forms can be found at: www.uiaa.org/chicago/awards.

Make a Gift - Support the AHS Annual Fund
The AHS Annual Fund provides the college with current use funds that our dean and department heads use for immediate program enhancement. Annual fund gifts of any size from $25 to $5,000 have been used to provide student travel awards to professional conferences, upgrade instructional technology in our classrooms, improve student learning and living spaces, and have been designated to a specific scholarship or award.

To make a gift to the AHS Annual Fund, please call Caryn in the advancement office at (312) 413-0197, or visit the University of Illinois Foundation at www.uif.uillinois.edu and click on "make a gift now."

Thank you for your generosity!

AHS Launches New Alumni Page on Web Site
