Bio
Dale Mitchell serves a dual role for the department--as Associate Head for Administration and as Director of DHD's Family Clinic. In his role as Associate Head for Administration, Dr. Mitchell supervises an administrative support staff of six full-time and nine part-time staff who provide accounting, personnel, computer support, grants management, building support services for approximately 180 staff in the department. As Director of the Family Clinic, Dr. Mitchell supervises four interdisciplinary teams that provide out-patient diagnostic and therapeutic services to approximately 1,000 families in the Chicago area each year.

Research Interests
Dale's research interests include compensation and turnover of direct care staff, organization and financing of developmental disability services, and health care for persons with disabilities. He has been at UIC since 1987, has made numerous public presentations regarding his areas of expertise, and has authored various publications including 3 books, 1 book chapter, and 5 articles in refereed journals. His latest book is Managed Care and Developmental Disabilities: Reconciling the Realities of Managed Care with the Individual Needs of Persons with Disabilities published in 1999 by High Tide Press. Dr. Mitchell is a Clinical Assistant Professor and teaches in the department's masters degree program.
