Bio
Dr. Parker is from Australia and has a background in sociology and social policy. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Sydney in Australia. Her dissertation was a comparative analysis of Australia and the United States on international and domestic human rights, policies and legislation for people with disabilities. Dr. Parker has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in sociological theory, feminist theory, qualitative research methods and comparative social policy. She teaches courses in theories and perspectives of disability studies; disability policies and legislation; and qualitative research methods.

Research Interests
Dr. Parker has worked in social policy research, primarily relating to analysis and evaluation of disability policies and programs. Her research interests include comparative policy analysis; international and domestic disability policies and legislation; international human rights; citizenship and social justice; and issues relating to gender and disability. Dr. Parker has experience in policy analysis, program evaluation, and qualitative and quantitative research design and analysis. Recent projects include a national analysis of supported accommodation options for people with disabilities; designing a large-scale evaluation of a state government early intervention program; an analysis on the use of United Nations human rights treaties for people with disabilities; and a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of anti-discrimination legislation in reducing inequalities of people with disabilities in liberal welfares states.
