Bio
Kiyoshi Yamaki, Ph.D., is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Disability and Human Development, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Dr. Yamaki, in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Public Health, is currently working to develop a statewide program to promote health and wellness of persons with disabilities in the State. He is also an experienced analyst of national surveys. Dr. Yamaki earned his masters degree in rehabilitation counseling at Springfield College, MA and his doctoral degree in public health at UIC. He is the first Japanese national who was licensed as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) in the United States. Prior to joining the research team at UIC, he worked as a direct support staff and a vocational counselor for persons with developmental disabilities in Japan.
