Bio
Brenda is a Project Coordinator in Assistive Technology Services and Training in the area of Seating and Wheeled Mobility at the Assistive Technology Unit, Department of Disability and Human Development, Universityof Illinois-Chicago. She has been a member of the ATU team since 1991, primarily providing evaluation, implementation and training services in the area of Seating and Wheeled Mobility in coordination with the Unit's physical therapy staff members. Brenda works closely with ATU speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists to design custom mounting systems for augmentative communication systems and switches. She also works in the areas of worksite modification and home modification. Brenda is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Disability and Human Development and the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Brenda received her Master of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia with a research concentration in Rehabilitation Engineering. She is a RESNA certified Assistive Technology Practitioner. Brenda is a frequent national and international conference presenter and contributor and has authored articles regarding rehabilitation technology.
