About the Speaker
Liliana Mayo is the founder of Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru--CASP, an internationally renowned center for students with developmental disabilities. One of Dr. Mayo’s unique contributions in the education of people with different abilities is integrating the active participation of parents as the most consistent teachers of their children. In collaboration with Judith M. LeBlanc, professor emeritus from Kansas University, she and her staff developed the CASP educational model that is now being used by many professionals and programs around the world.

Dr. Mayo consults and teaches internationally on topics related to the functional/natural teaching of students and parents; active participation of families in the education of their children; teaching methods to provide students with different abilities with the resources and skills to be independent, productive, and happy throughout life. Dr. Mayo has been recognized for her work with numerous awards including the Peruvian Congressional Medal of honor, an honorary doctorate from the University of San Marcos, and the distinguished service award from the University of Kansas.
